Local firefighters made a grisly discovery while battling a structure fire Thursday night. The body of an unidentified person was found in the burned-out camper trailer along Harpertown Road.

According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, the Leading Creek and Elkins volunteer fire eepartments responded to the blaze around 10 p.m. Thursday.

"Upon arrival they discovered the structure was a camper trailer and while fighting the fire they located a body," the release states. "The cause of the fire is under investigation by the West Virginia Fire Marshal's Office."

The name of the victim is not being released until identification can be made by the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office, according to the statement.

In addition to the fire departments and sheriff's department, the West Virginia State Police and the Randolph County Emergency Squad also responded to the scene.
