Bobby Keith Valentine, 75, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness. Death was unexpected.

He was born Sunday, May 16, 1937, at Poe Run, a son of the late Woodrow Valentine Sr. and Edna Louise Ailstock Valentine. He was raised by his grandparents, Georganna and Willie Ailstock.

He was twice married. First, on July 27, 1972, at Reno, Nev., he was married to the former Dorothy Ellen Mullenax, who preceded him in death Dec. 29, 2005. Second, on Nov. 20, 2010, at Elkins, he was married to the former Roberta M. Kniley, who survives.

Also surviving are two brothers, Woodrow Valentine Jr. and Jack Wayne Valentine and Carol, all of Elkins; two sisters, Nancy L. Barlow and Doug of Montrose and Shirley Bee and husband, Gene, of Arizona; seven special children, Justin White of Elkins, Parker Bennett, Gabriel Bennett and Brooklyn "Nickel" Lawrence, all of Parsons, Kaylea Johnson of Elkins and Patty Hedrick and Keyonna, both of Webster Springs; and a very special niece, Cassey L. Barlow of Elkins.

He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1955 and was a veteran of the Army National Guard at Washington, D.C.

He had worked in Elkins at the Golden Clinic, Davis Memorial Hospital and Nella's Nursing Home prior to becoming a mechanic and working in Washington, D.C., Reno, Nev., Santa Rosa, Calif., and Columbus, Ohio.

He was a volunteer at the Randolph County Senior Center, where he sang with the Sunshiner's, attended the First Church of Christ and loved hunting and fishing.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Sunday, Nov. 11, Mr. Valentine will be moved to First Church of Christ, where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., the funeral hour.

Minister Michael Courtwright will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
