Snowshoe appoints Dekema as sales director

Snowshoe Mountain Resort has announced David Dekema has been named Snowshoe's new director of sales and marketing, effective immediately.

In this position he oversees the key marketing, sales, PR and promotions initiatives. Dekema reports to Frank DeBerry, Chief Operating Officer of Snowshoe.

Dekema has more than 20 years of marketing experience, and has held several executive management positions at large and small companies in the resort, hospitality and web/internet industries. For the past nine years, Dekema was director of marketing for Angel Fire Resort, a year-round ski and golf destination in New Mexico. He has also held the positions of vice-president brand promotions for AOL of Dulles, Va., and director of marketing at Starwave of Seattle, Wa., where he managed strategic partnership programs.

"With Dave Dekema's experience in marketing and resort management, combined with his strong leadership abilities and creativity, we are confident that he will help us reach our strategic marketing goals," DeBerry said.

Snowshoe Mountain also announced hiring Sterling-Rice Group from Boulder, Col., as its advertising agency, and SJ Communications, an Albuquerque-based public relations agency, as its PR agency of record.

Snowshoe Mountain is a year-round destination for adventure-filled vacations in West Virginia. Snowshoe was named No. 1 Overall Ski Resort and No. 1 for Nightlife in the Southeast by in 2012.
