Tucker County hosst rival Moorefield today in opening round action of the Class A playoffs at 1:30 p.m. at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field.
The Mountain Lions defeated Moorefield 44-13 in an earlier matchup in the regular season.
"The kids are excited to be playing in a home playoff game," Tucker County coach A.J. Rapp said. "We finally have had a good week of practice, so we will see how things go."
No. 1 Tucker County is led by senior quarterback Derek Nestor, and running backs Zach Armstrong and Austin Zirk.
Receivers Tyler Snyder and Nathaniel Goldstein are other key players for the Mounation Lion offense.
No. 16 Moorefield (5-4) is led by senior quarterback Adam Snyder and wide receiver Da'Sean Brown.
"The kids are looking forward to play against Tucker County," Moorefield coach Josh See said. "We didn't play well the first time over there, so I?feel we're an improved team and come ready to play."
No. 7 East Hardy (9-1) host No. 10 Wheeling Central (7-3)?today at 1:30 p.m. in opening round action of the Class A playoffs.
The Cougars are led by senior quarterback Shawn Skovron and senior receiver Josh Parker.
"We're going to have to run our offense the way we've done all year," East Hardy coach Chad Williams said. "Our offensive line is going to have to block and give our quarterback time to throw and run our offense."
Wheeling Centeral is led by running back Christopher Burch and quarterback Parker Henry.
"We're going to have to come up with some turnovers to have any chance of winning this game," Williams said. "We need to stop Burch because their offense runs threw him."
