A Helvetia man remains lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail after allegedly trying to steal a book that outlines the laws by which he should try to live.
Eric Wade McClure, 20, is charged with breaking and entering, fleeing from an officer, underage consumption and littering after a Buckhannon police officer spotted him Nov. 10 removing a Bible and other items from a parked car on Thurman Avenue.
McClure reportedly tried to run from the officer, but was eventually tracked down in the Evunbreth Acres area. The officer had to use a Taser to restrain McClure, according to the police report.
McClure was arraigned before Upshur County Magistrate Mike Coffman, who set bond at $25,000.
