Our youngest son Jonathan William Pyle, 25, has been promoted to the rank of corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan and is living in Oceanside, Calif., with his new bride, Amber, and their pet poodle. He plans to enter the Marine Corps Reserves after his current enlistment ends next year. He is stationed at Camp Pendleton and wants to sign up for 16 more years and pursue college. Our prayers go out to our son and all that are in the service of their country.
The Mayflower and first Thanksgiving in America now ring close to our hearts! Our pet Beta fish "Noah" can't wait for Thanksgiving. Yum yum (same old fish diet though).
We want to thank all who attended and helped with our recent "Great Awakening Revival 2012." We are grateful for the many new visitors. I don't believe that any revival conducted thus far as pastor saw this level of spiritual opposition, as we prepared for our Colonial-style series of meetings. The apostle Paul advises "But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing"! (2nd Thessalonians 3:13; Galatians 6:9).
Pastor Stephen Pyle, daughter, Stephanie, and wife, Sallie, portray Jonathan Edwards and his wife and daughter during the Great Awakening Revival.
Jonathan Edwards, who was the first Great Awakening's leading spark plug, entered college at 13, graduated class valedictorian at 17, and received his Masters at age 20.
Edwards and his wife Sarah raised 11 children. Hooking up with England's George Whitefield, the first American Great Awakening spread to England. What a time in America to hear the voice of Almighty Jehovah God!
My family and I visited Stockbridge, Mass., several years ago, and I became interested in Edward's life. Norman Rockwell's Museum is located nearby. Edwards died from an experimental inoculation for smallpox at age 54. He and his famous son-in-law, Aaron Burr, are buried side by side in the president's cemetery of Princeton University.
The human body needs to refresh itself frequently. The morning after the recent national election, I felt somewhat drained emotionally and subdued. I realized that our God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are in control. "He sits on the 'circle' of the earth." I'm recuperating, OK?
While my wife, Sallie, and I voted at the Elkins Middle School in November 2008, we noticed a beautiful rainbow which reigned above the polling place. The Lord seemed to remind me then of his promises and covenants. Noah's rainbow comforted him with God's providential omnipresence!
Looking at Election Day's 2012 coverage from "sea to shining sea," the CNN reporter showed us the extensive "sea" of red states. It reminded me of a recent observance of a cell phone network map that covers 97 percent of its U.S. subscribers.
This 2012 Election was an astonishing event. This, of course, depends on your vote. Nothing can be gained if more than 115 million registered voters stay home.
Our true hope and vote is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Many things will transpire quickly in our changing nation and world! Much is coming "down the pike." Paul's writing in 2nd Thessalonians 2:1-12, (KJV) to this pastor says it all.
Three key verses to note in this passage are verses 6, 7 and 8. "And now ye know what witholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming".
Let us continue to pray for a mighty Holy Ghost revival that will change us! We must pray for our leaders. The prophet declares: "Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord."
In closing, everyone is invited to share with the Randolph County Ministerial Association's annual Thanksgiving Day dinner at the Odd Fellows Club on the Five-lane Beverly Pike. Turkey and all the trimmings will be provided!
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
