Body discovered near Belington

A man's body was discovered near Belington at an abandoned mill last week, officials said.

According to the Barbour County Office of Emergency Management, a call came in about the body at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Sgt. J.A. Wyatt of the West Virginia State Police is leading the investigation, but was unavailable for comment.

A representative of the Barbour County OEM said the body was taken to the state coroner's office in Charleston.

The Belington EMS responded to the scene, along with the Belington Fire Department, the Barbour County Sheriff's Department, Barbour County Emergency Squad and the West Virginia State Police.
