Harold Kennedy

Harold G. Kennedy, 86, of 209 Grass Run Rd. Weston, passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012, in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a brief illness.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1926, at Clendenin, a son of the late H.O. and Lilly Hayes Kennedy.

On Sept. 15, 1947, he married the former Joan Corathers, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Allman and husband, Roger, of Weston, Sherry Kennedy of Florida, and Patty Hammond and husband, Randy, of West Milford; one son, Larry Kennedy and wife, Sandy, of Belington; six grandchildren, Stefanie Gillis, Robert Rinehart, Jessica Heimbach, Amanda Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy and Kansas Hammond; and five great grandchildren.

He was the oldest of seven children and was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Mr. Kennedy was the owner and operator of Kennedy Tire Service in Weston for over three decades.

He was a member of the Haleville Union Mission Church in Weston, where he served as song leader for over 25 years, and was recently elected Sunday School Superintendent. He loved to serve the Lord and spent many hours helping those who needed assistance in the community.

Harold enjoyed working in his yard and growing the most beautiful flowers. He devoted many hours to his woodworking shop, making Christian decorative wall hangings that he gave away generously to many.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WW II and was a 1944 graduate of Glenville High School.

Friends called at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew on Sunday and today from 11 a.m. to noon.

Funeral services will be held at noon today from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William J.B. Gum and the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating.

Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, where the Lewis County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
