Virginia Proudfoot

Mrs. Virginia Hope Moore Proudfoot, 100, a resident of 212 Jackson St. in Junior, departed this life at 10:25 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at her home.

She was born Aug. 18, 1912, at Junior, a daughter of the late George Amos and Viola Belle Arbogast Moore.

On Dec. 24, 1932, she was united in marriage to Truman Ellison Proudfoot, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Shirley R. Miller of Junior; 11 grandchildren, David Miller and wife, Sue, of Elkins, Larry Miller of Junior, Gary Miller and wife, Nancy, of Junior, Janis Zambelli and husband, Frank, of Junior, Michael Miller of Junior, Susan Strawder and husband, Steve, of Junior, Danny Rexrode of Moorefield, Steven Rexrode of Virginia, Jamey Rexrode of Virginia, Brian Proudfoot of Orville, Ohio, and Sean Proudfoot of Orville, Ohio. Numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive, along with a special care giver, Blanche Price.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Janet Lea Rexrode and Duane Richard Proudfoot; four sisters, Madaline Hensil, Nellie Rose Rider, Phyllis Corley and Dorothy Moore.

Mrs. Proudfoot was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Proudfoot attended the schools of Barbour County and was a 1927 graduate of the Belington High School. She received her teaching degree from the Davis & Elkins College and retired from the Barbour County school system after many years of teaching at Junior Elementary School.

She was a lifelong member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and was known for her love of reading and quilting.

Friends will be received from the Bethel United Methodist Church in Junior from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted from the church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lynn Ryder officiating.

The Family will receive friends from the church on Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery near Junior.

Talbott Funeral home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Virginia Hope Moore Proudfoot.
