Green Arbogast, 85, of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Davis Memorial Hopstial in Elkins.
He was born May 8, 1927, at Thornwood. He was a son of the late Dixie and Annie Vandevander Arbogast. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, great grandchildren and other family members.
He attended Frank Nazarene Church and Durbin Church of the Brethren and was a Christian man all of his life. He had a great love for God and family and for West Virginia University, hunting and fishing. He worked hard his entire life and retired from Howe Lumber Company after 31 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lara M. Arbogast, an infant grandson, Cody L. Tacy; sisters, Joann Currence, Judith and Betty; and brothers, Denver, Vere, Henry, Harvey, David, Lonnie and Arnold Arbogast.
On May 16, 1947, at Monterey, Va., he married Dorothy Ryder at Durbin, who passed away in 2010 after 63 years of marriage.
He is survived by five sons, James E. Arbogast and fiance, Betsy, Garry L. Arboast and wife, Millie, Thomas A. Arbogast and friend, Sandy, Glenn W. Arbogast and wife, Pam, all of Durbin, and Lewis R. Arbogast and wife, Diana, of Bartow; three daughters, Linda K. Arbogast, Carol M. Tacy and husband, Randy, all of Elkins, and Diana L. Matheny and husband, Larry, of Hurricane; a special son, Kenny Arbogast and wife, Barb, of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren, Beth Vandevander, Lewis Ray Arbogast II, Michael Arbogast, Davey Carr, Tammy Shreve, Jennifer Matheny, Eric Metheny, Erica Smith, Thomas Arboagst II, Stephanie Arbogast and Andy Arbogast; 20 great grand children, Paige, Kurt, Elizabeth, Sally, Jacob, David, Crystal, Hunter, Collin, Evan, Madison, Sophia, MaKayla, Tyler, Brandon, Kayley, Matthew, Brayden, Dorth and Joey; one sister, Maxine Cromer, of Durbin; and two brothers, Paul Arbogast and Dan Arbogast and wife, Linda, all of Durbin.
Services will be Sunday, Nov. 25, at 3 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Rev. Donnie Curry and Rev. Davod Rottehouse officiating. Interment will follow at the Arbovale Cemetery Annex. Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 24, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
