Jack Edward Pingley, 76, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at the Hospice Regional Inpatient Care Center in Elkins.
Jack was born Wednesday, March 11, 1936, in Richwood, to the late Clarence and Gladys Pingley. On July 20, 1957, Jack was married to the former Patricia Dale Hensil, who survives.
Jack also is survived by his children, Jack Edward Pingley Jr. and wife, Cindy, Robert Patrick Pingley and wife, Tammy, all of Elkins, Linda Pingley Hall and husband, Randy, of Holly Springs, N.C.; one brother Kenneth Pingley and wife, Rachel; one sister, Eleanor Zizzi, all of Elkins; six grandchildren, Amanda Adkins, Stacey Daniels, Alex and Taylor Pingley, Hannah and Ava Hall; and one great grandchild, Bailey Daniels.
Preceding him in death was one sister, Louise Toothman.
Jack owned Valley Bell Distributing in Elkins for many years. He also worked as a school bus driver and later served as transportation director for the Randolph County school system. Jack worked for the state school system as a school bus inspector, from which he retired in 1998.
He is a lifelong member of the Elkins First Church of Christ.
Jack enjoyed restoring farm tractors and spending time with his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday at the Randolph Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Elkins First Church of Christ. The Rev. Michael Courtwright will officiate and interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jack's name to either St. Jude Children's Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, Tenn. 38148-0142 or to the Elkins First Church of Christ 300 Main Street, Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
