Veterans thank those who took part in event

November 24, 2012
John E. Lothes, vice chairman All Veterans Memorial Council , The Inter-Mountain

Editor:

The All Veterans Memorial Council thanks everyone in the community that helped or participated in honoring our veterans on Veterans Day.

Thanks to all who attended the ceremony at the monument and helped us honor the service or our veterans to their country. Your attendance gives testimony to the fact that West Virginians are not only willing to serve when needed, but their family, friends and neighbors will always remember and continue to appreciate and honor their sacrifices.

We are so blessed here in Randolph County to have so much support of our veterans. We thank Chaplains Terry Cannon, Vietnam Vets Chapter 812 and Sam Morrison, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3674 for their invocation and benediction. Thanks to the Highland Adventist School staff and students for singing the national anthem and "God Bless America" and helping with lowering and raising the flags. Your assistance during our ceremonies is invaluable. Thanks to Jim Rossi, mayor of the town of Coalton, for his welcoming remarks.

Thanks to all the veterans' organizations and their auxiliaries that provide the flag bearers, the gun salute squad and assist with our ceremonies as needed, with raising and lowering the flags, handing out programs and obtaining and serving refreshments. Without your continued support our ceremonies to honor our veterans would not be possible.

Thanks to Mary's Greenhouse for maintaining year-round flowers at our monument and thanks to Shop 'N Save for providing the refreshments, and thanks to The Inter-Mountain for helping us inform the community about our ceremonies. The support of everyone is greatly appreciated.

We would like to thank and welcome the veteran's organization recently formed at Davis & Elkins College. These student veterans are participating in our ceremonies, and recently they provided our council a very generous donation to help maintain our monument. Thanks, and we welcome you.

We had a lovely ceremony, on a beautiful day that was attended by many wonderful patriotic citizens of Randolph County. Thanks to all, may God bless you and your loved ones, and may God continue to bless America and the patriots who serve us.
