The annual Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is set to bring joy to local kids Friday.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The route will begin in South Elkins near Wimer Field and end at the corner of Davis Avenue and Fourth Street. Parade line-up begins at 6 p.m.
Directly following the parade, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be at the YMCA to take "wish lists" and distribute treats to the children. Kids can also get their picture taken with Santa.
Toys for Tots donations will also be collected after the parade.
This year's parade's theme is "I Believe in Christmas." Participants are invited to decorate to resemble characters and scenes from the Polar Express, go overboard on lights, or represent local traditions here in Randolph County.
Awards will be presented to parade participants, in categories including Director's Choice, President's Choice, Christmas Spirit/Commercial and Christmas Spirit/Non-Commercial.
Anyone seeking to place an entry in the annual Christmas Parade is asked to please register today.
The parade will once again feature a Children's Division. Kids are invited to dress up like their favorite Polar Express character.
The 2012 Parade Sponsor is Frontier Communications, and the 2012 Children's Division Sponsor is TRG Customer Solutions.
Division Sponsors include Tygart Valley Orthopedics, the Randolph County CVB and Scotts Auto.
