Decorations that would have graced homes during the Victorian period will greet guests to Adaland Mansion during this 2012 Christmas season, including two hanging "kissing balls" reminiscent of the Victorian item that probably included a sprig of mistletoe.
Visitors to Philippi's restored 1870 mansion four miles north of downtown Philippi will see the kissing balls and a mansion full of other Christmas finery.
December is full of opportunities for guests to visit Adaland and enjoy the extensive decorations on all three floors of the Victorian mansion.
Individually decorated trees, elaborate mantel decorations, yards of garland, and hundreds of twinkling lights will delight this season's visitors.
Two Christmas buffets will be served at Adaland on Sunday and Dec. 16 with three seatings from 1 to 4 p.m.
To feast on ham, turkey, seasonal vegetables, salad, homemade breads and desserts, call 304-457-2415 or 304-457-1587 to make reservations for the buffets.
Adult tickets are $20 and children under 12 eat for $10.
See www.adaland.org for details of Adaland's Christmas calendar and directions to the mansion.
