As we approach this Christmas season we all have a lot to be thankful for. But we all need to remember that it was a little while ago that we had no power, the roads were impassible and most of us had to seek shelter in fire stations, schools or with family. We were all hurting and just wanting to know when it would be over.
For some it is over for other it is not. We still know people that just have temporary power because poles still need to be set or the house meter needs to be reset by a licensed electrician. These are the people we all need to keep in our prayers and thoughts as we move toward Christmas.
One way we all can help to make Christmas a little nicer for these families is by helping with the Toys for Tots drive going on in area stores around Elkins and in Randolph and the surrounding counties. If you would like to help out all you need to do is purchase one new unwrapped toy and place it in one of the Toys for Tots collection boxes. These toys will be picked up by the Elkins Marine Corps League for distribution to a lot of these needy families that might not have the means to provide Christmas this year for their children.
I am sure that we all know what it means to a child to either come down the stairs or out of their rooms on Christmas day and see that there are packages under the Christmas tree. With your help and the Marine Corps League of Elkins I'm sure we can make some these children very happy on Christmas Day.
