December 3, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

There has been a growing concern about the issue of substance abuse within Randolph County for some time; now the Randolph County America's Promise Coalition is asking concerned citizens, business members, political figures and other agencies to attend a local substance abuse prevention coalition meeting.

On Dec. 11, the coalition will be holding an evening meeting at Woodford Church in Elkins beginning at 6:30 pm. The meeting will highlight some of the projects the coalition would like to work on over the next year which includes the development of a Life Recovery Center.

Information will also be given on grant funding and training for Recovery Coaches within the region.

Members from Reach-WV will also be on hand to give a presentation about their volunteer organization and projects that could assist Randolph County with the substance abuse problem. Reach is designed to help individuals and families with addictions navigate the paths to recovery by providing solutions and support for problems they may encounter.

Throughout the past several months the Randolph County America's Promise Coalition has been involved in many projects to assist in the fight against Randolph County substance abuse. Some of these projects include the development of a drug task force, an anonymous tip line and the education of youth and adults about the dangers of substance abuse.

Members of the coalition would like to invite everyone to attend this meeting and are excited to hear what county residents have to say.

For more information about the coalition you may contact the Randolph County Family Resource Network at 304-636-4454.

This is a project funded by a substance abuse prevention and treatment block grant from the Bureau of Behavioral Health and Health Facilities of West Virginia.
