Brooks Griffith, 94, a resident of Garnett St., Philippi, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Barbour County, a son of the late James Walker and Ivah (Thompson) Griffith.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 23, 1944, to EvaLee (Lake) Griffith, who preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2008.
Surviving are one son, Lyle B. Griffith and wife, Polly, of Philippi; one grandson, Thomas Lyle Griffith of Philippi; nieces and nephews, John Griffith and Karen Snider, both of Fairmont, and Howard Griffith of Kentucky; and a grand dog, Sam.
Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Conwell, Adron, James Howard Griffith and Gertrude Findlay.
Mr. Griffith retired as a Forrester Ranger for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. In earlier years, he was a school bus driver for the Barbour County Schools and worked on the family farm in Mt. Liberty.
He enjoyed shooting pool, was an avid golfer, was a member of the Barbour County Country Club, member of the Woodman of the World, Barbour County Farm Bureau, and he enjoyed gardening, his flowers, the outdoors and animals.
Mr. Griffith was a past member of the Philippi Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 North Walnut St., Philippi, today from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.
