PETERSBURG -The Elkins Middle School boys basketball team split a pair of games with Petersburg on Saturday afternoon.
Elkins (1-1) won the varsity contest, 36-24.
Curtis Bullock had seven points, Blake Loftis six, and Kyle Riggleman and Dalton Hamrick five each for the Hornets.
Issac Bergdoll finished with eight points to lead Petersburg.
Elkins (1-1) lost the junior varsity contest 39-35 in overtime.
Elliot White finished with 13 points and Zach Shreve added 10 points for the Hornets.
Chase Ault fired in a game-high 16 points to lead Petersburg.
Elkins will host Buckhannon-Upshur at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Girls games
PETERSBURG - The Elkins Middle School girls basketball team dropped a pair of games to Petersburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Hornets (1-1) lost the varsity contest, 67-15.
Haley Collett and Sierra Poling had four points each for Elkins.
Lauren Fleming had 16 points to lead Petersburg.
Elkins (0-2) lost the junior varsity contest, 30-6.
Kiley Calain, Hali Newlon and Taylor Maynard had two points each for the Lady Hornets.
Reese Hedrick had nine points to lead Petersburg.
Elkins will travel to Buckhannon-Upshur at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
