The South Side Depot will again be hosting the Snowflake Express Train Ride with Santa this holiday season. This annual family-friendly train event will be held on Friday and Saturday with the first trains boarding at 6 p.m. each evening.
The Depot is including two additional departure times at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, this year to accommodate more riders than in the past.
"We are so excited to offer extra trains this year. Many of our guests say the Snowflake Express has become part of their holiday tradition and so we are delighted that more families will have an opportunity to ride," said Eileen Sindledecker, proprietor of the South Side Depot.
Children riding the Snowflake Express can visit with Santa while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies during the 45-minute trip. Everyone will enjoy listening to Christmas carols sung by Shanna Bowers and an opportunity to view the Christmas Festival of Lights, a spectacular holiday light display held annually at Welton Park, through the vintage train car windows of the Snowflake Express.
Tickets for this unique railroad experience are on sale now. The cost is $8 per person. Reservations are suggested as this event sells out quickly. To purchase your tickets, please call South Side Depot at 304-257-9264.
