The Tucker Community Chorus family invites everyone to come in from the cold and share the warmth of friendship during two free concerts offering a generous helping of traditional musical favorites along with special surprises.
The concerts will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Davis, and at 7 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Parsons.
Sandy Shaffer, serving as director, will be assisted by pianist Karen Cuppet. Many familiar TCC voices will be joined by several newer members to create a relaxing and inspiring program, reminiscent of the Andy Williams, Perry Como and Dinah Shore specials.
Opening with the lively "Everywhere Christmas Tonight," the program continues with a swing time arrangement of Gene Autry's "Here Comes Santa Clause" and a round of "Let Those Merry Bells Ring." The chorus will then "Deck The Hall" with a bit of a twist. Listeners will also recognize Harry Simeone's arrangement of "The Little Drummer Boy."
Between the choral selections, guests will be treated with special solos and small ensemble pieces. Guests will also be invited to join in on singing some good old fashioned Christmas Carols.
The anticipation of the coming of the Christ Child is expressed with a driving gospel rendition of Jill Galena's "Gloria In Excelsis Deo." Expectations are realized in the singing of the spirited contemporary Christian arrangement of "In The First Light."
In the spirit of the gift of love, the TCC will gladly accept food donations to benefit local food pantrys.
