Teter CEOS talk recycling

December 8, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Teter CEOS met at noon Nov. 15 at the 88 Restaurant in Buckhannon for lunch and a regular meeting.

Tables were decorated for Thanksgiving by the hostess Pat Strader with help from Millie Hornbeck and Iris Mae Swecker.

Following lunch, the meeting was called to order by President Justine Woody.

Health Motivator Janet Smith talked about stress and exercises that will help eliminate it. She has done a great job this year in keeping the club aware of all the things the group needs to do to stay healthy. At the end of this year, the club had more than 1,000 hours of exercise.

Shelia Dowell led meditations with a reading "How Thankful Are You?" and gave everyone a list of words that end with "ful" that make our spiritual lives full such as cheerful, faithful, helpful, joyful, merciful, peaceful, powerful, prayerful, thankful, truthful and worshipful.

Joyce Hoover led the flag salute. Vonnie Hager gave the minutes of the October meeting. Iris Mae Swecker gave the treasurers report. Both were approved and placed on file for audit.

Standing reports have been completed and are ready to be turned in to the extension office.

Justine reminded members that dues must be in soon.

Christmas raffle tickets were given out. The 2013 yearbooks will be given out in December.

Jerry Stankus will purchase hats and gloves for the club to give to Head Start.

Pat Strader presented the lesson "Cranberry Thanksgiving." She listed all the health benefits of eating cranberries and said cranberries are not just for Thanksgiving but should be eaten year round. Carol Biser, Millie Hornbeck, Janet Smith, Jerry Stankus and Vonnie Hager played bingo with residents at St. Joseph's extended care unit in October.

A Christmas ornament drawing was held and Vonnie Hager won an ornament made by the club members.

The December meeting will be Dec. 13 at Stonewall Resort. Members will be leaving at 10:45 a.m. from Buckhannon and having lunch at noon.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. A gift of homemade cookies, candy, dried cranberries, a candle and a recipe for ammonia cookies was given to all members present: Carol Bisu, Annette Brahe, Dale Ann Curry, Cathy DeBarr, Joyce DeBarr, Shelia Dowell, Vonnie Hager, Millie Hornbeck, Betty Oldaker, Joyce Hoover, Judy Beer, Caroline Carpenter, Debbie Kittle, Janet Smith, Jerry Stankus, Pat Strader. Iris Mae Swecker, Justine Woody, Barbra White and special guest and new member Cheryl Gaunt.

The door prize won by Millie Hornbeck was a fruit basket.
