Robert Squires

Robert George "Bob" Squires, 80, of 58 Sauls Run Road in Weston, passed away peacefully at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 4, 1932, at Highland Park, Mich., the son of the late Melvon Paul and Ruth Lester Squires.

He married Rita Ingrid Hoffmann of Berlin, Germany, in a civil service on May 24, 1954 and in a church service on June 5, 1954 in Berlin.

In addition to his wife, he's survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rochelle Squires Long and husband, Hunter, of Buckhannon, Renee Squires Kiser and husband, Mark, of Jane Lew, Robin Squires Hardman and husband, Kevin, of Horner and Renate Squires Stapleton of Weston; grandchildren Sean and wife, Sarah Long, Brandon Long, Robbie Kiser, Rhea Kiser Harrison and husband, Trent, Shane Kiser, Seth Hardman, Cole Hardman, Trevor Hardman, Chelsea Stapleton McKibben and husband, John, Tawni Stapleton and companion, Shawn Hill, and Cora Stapleton; and great-grandchildren: Johnathon McKibben and Paetyn Hill.

Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Joan Radcliff and Paula Joy Montgomery and husband, Russell, both of Weston; one sister-in-law, Annabelle Squires of Bendale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Hoffmann Long; one son-in-law, Jeffrey Stapleton; one brother, James Kent Squires; one sister Shirley Jean Butcher; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Radcliff and John Butcher.

He attended Weston High School, class of 1950 and was a graduate of the Electronic Institute in Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1954, at which time, he was stationed in Berlin Germany. He retired as supervisor of the Maintenance Department and senior associate from Corhart Refractories after 31 years of service. He received numerous awards for his service, including the Presidents Award in 1985 and 1986. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing with his friends. He especially enjoyed dancing with his wife, the love of his life.

Friends may call at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew Sunday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. from Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Weston.
