EMS splits pair with Belington; TV?wins

The Elkins Middle School girls basketball team split a pair of games with Belington on Monday night.

The Lady Hawks won the varsity contest 39-25.

Brooke Pomp had 19 points to lead Belington.

Sierra Poling led Elkins with 13 points, while Christine Zurbuch and Chloe Phillips had four points each for the Lady Hornets.

Elkins won the junior varsity contest 32-7 over Belington.

Taylor Maynard and Susan Riggleman had eight points each for the Lady Hornets.

Riggleman also had seven rebounds.

Kaci Zopp chipped in with six points for EMS.

Makenzie Carpenter finished with five points for Belington.

Elkins hosts Tygarts Valley on Thursday.

EMS?Boys Sweeps Belington

BELINGTON?-?The Elkins Middle School boys basketball team swept a pair of games from Belington on Monday in Middle School boys action.

The Hornets won the varsity contest 47-44 in overtime.

Curtis Bullock had 21 points to lead Elkins.

Dalton Hamrick and Cory Gillespie had six points each for the Hornets (3-1).

Spencer Hudkins finished with 29 points to lead Belington.

Josh Mayle added seven points for the Hawks.

Elkins (3-1)?won the junior varsity contest 35-32.

Elliot White had 15 points to lead the Hornets.

Lucas Masten chipped in with 10 points for EMS.

David Shriver chipped in with eight points for Belington.

Elkins travels to Tygarts Valley on Thursday.

Richwood 36

RICHWOOD?- Shanda Howell had 21 points and grabbed six steals for the Lady Bulldogs (3-1), who led 16-15 at halftime and 34-21 after three quarters of play.

Paige Pritt followed with eight points and 13 rebounds, while Emily Pingley and Kelsey Arbogast had six points each for Tygarts Valley.

Pingley also had 15 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

Hannah Green had 13 points, while Hannah Brown chipped in with 12 points for Richwood.

Tygarts Valley host Notre Dame on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.

Petersburg 45,

East Hardy 42

BAKER?- Brian George finished with a team-high 21 points to lead Petersburg past East Hardy 45-42 Monday in Potomac Valely Conference action.

Trevor Harman and Marshall Wratchford had six points each for the Vikings.

Shawn Skovron had 18 points to lead the Cougars (0-1).

Korey Foltz had seven points for East Hardy.

Petersburg hosts Tucker County on Dec. 18 for a non-conference matchup.

East Hardy hosts Pendleton County on Wednesday for a PVC tilt at 7:30 p.m.
