A photo from almost 50 years ago shows The House of Security by Fletcher, an agency that handled all phases of insurance, in the year of 1963.
Three in the photo are now deceased: first the father, D. Edwin Fletcher, then followed by his son, Charles, and third son, Jim. Charles broke out on his own to form Fletcher Real Estate, and Dave, the oldest son, had Central West Virginia Underwriters. It was the largest agency in central West Virginia. Two sons, Dave and Tom, remain.
The photograph allows remembrance of a father and his remarkable sons, all highly successful and well known and respected in our community. It serves as a tribute to hard work and devotion by a family that shared their abilities for all individuals; their work was never done until the job was completed. Those young men and their father are saluted for the years they gave to this community.
