Delphia Hilton Mason, 100, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing Care Facility in Buckhannon.
She was born June 19, 1912, at Tallmansville, a daughter of the late Samuel Bethuel Tenney and Nora Ann Butcher Tenney Sayre.
On Aug. 15, 1936, she married the Rev. Lemuel Reynolds Mason Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1998.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Flora Riggs and Lelia Ours; one brother, the Rev. Lloyd Tenney; and two half sisters, Lula Reed and Zona Carter.
Surviving are one son, John A. Mason and wife, Maycle, of Hurricane; two daughters, Jan Holtsclaw and husband, the Rev. Thomas Holtsclaw, of Roxboro, N.C., and Joy Whitlock and husband, Larry, of Martinsville, Va.; two granddaughters, Andrea Malpass of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mary Beth Stewart of Hurricane; six grandsons, Allen Mason of Landsdale, Pa., Timothy Holtsclaw of Fayetteville, N.C., James Whitlock of Wytheville, Va., Luke Whitlock of Tennessee, Jason Holtsclaw of Ashville, N.C., and Joshua Whitlock of Johnson City, Tenn.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mason was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. While helping her husband serve in ministry, they lived in 11 different places in three states.
Friends will be received Friday, Dec. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville.
