Rock Cave CEOS met Nov. 20 at the Banks District Civic Center with 12 members and one guest, Ely McCartney, in attendance. Dora Neely said grace before refreshments. Jean Linger won the door prize.
The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by President Debbie Page. Carol Haymond took roll call, and members said the Lord's Prayer, followed by the flag salute.
Jean Linger gave the treasurer's report and discussed our community service project which was to purchase new Christmas trees and ornaments for the Civic Center and the Fire Hall. Members agreed that Debbie Page should make the purchase. Old decorations were given to the Parish House. Carol Haymond read a "thank you" letter from the Ronald McDonald House for our support. A "thank you" card from Jane and Delbert McCartney was also read.
The Christmas Party was held Dec 4. Members were reminded to bring 2013 dues, Secret Pal Christmas gifts, hats and gloves for Head Start, Christmas raffle tickets or money, a nonperishable food item for the Parish House and a covered dish for the Christmas party. The West Virginia University Extension Office needed 193 sets of hats and gloves for Head Start.
Club standing committee reports were due to the County Chairmen by Nov. 30. Members were asked to provide refreshments for after the SUBA parade Dec. 1.
Seven Blankets of Hope were turned in to be given to an organization of the members' choice. Susie Bender made five blankets from material provided and deserves a "thank you." Seventeen children's books were donated to the IGA Book Nook.
The lesson "Cranberry Thanksgiving," was given by Mary Ann Griffin. It was decided to put monthly breakfast on hold and to discuss at the January meeting.
The Christmas auction was held with Glen Hawkins as auctioneer and Susie Bender as his helper.
The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Civic Center.
