EMS boys split with Philippi

PHILIPPI -The Elkins Middle School boys basketball teams split a pair of games with Philippi on Thursday night.

The Hornets (6-1) won the varsity contest, 51-24.

Curtis Bullock had 13 points, while Dalton Hamrick followed with 12 points for the Hornets.

Austin Upton had 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Elkins (5-2) lost the junior varsity contest, 36-34.

Curtis Humphrey had 22 points to lead Philippi.

Elliot White finished with eight points, while Zach Shreve and George Triplett had six points each for the Hornets.

Elkins will travel to Buckhannon-Upshur at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

TV splits with Marlinton

MILL CREEK - The Tygarts Valley Middle School boys basketball teams split a pair of games with Marlinton on Thursday.

The Bulldogs (4-2) won the varsity contest, 45-40.

Zac McCauley had 14 points, while Caleb Riggleman added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Rece Wamsley added 10 points for Tygarts Valley.

Wyatt Workman had 17 points, while Ryan Irvine chipped in with nine points for the Copperheads.

Tygarts Valley (1-5) lost the junior varsity contest, 29-20.

Austin Lanham had nine points, while Hunter Lanham chipped in with eight points for the Bulldogs.

Ryan Brumfield had seven points to lead Marlinton.

Tygarts Valley will host Green Bank at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.

Green Bank falls to Pendleton

GREEN BANK - The Green Bank Middle School boys basketball dropped a pair of games to Pendleton County Thursday night.

Pendleton County won the varsity contest, 34-33.

Luke Cooper and Trey Cooper combined for 22 points for the Wildcats.

Justin Hendrick had 12 points, while Danny Kimble added 11 points for Green Bank.

Brady Jones followed with 10 points for the Eagles.

The Wildcats won the junior varsity contest, 38-35.

Jacob Jones had nine points, while Hunter Shaffer had eight points for Green Bank.

Girls

Philippi sweeps EMS

The Philippi Middle School girls basketball teams swept a pair of games from Elkins Thursday evening at EMS gymnasium.

Philippi won the varsity contest, 41-31.

Chelsea Mayle had 25 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Christine Zurbuch had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Jarrah Reams and Chloe Phillips had six points each for the Lady Hornets.

Phillips had 13 rebounds, while Reams had 10 rebounds for Elkins.

Philippi won the junior varsity contest, 35-24.

Sarah Jones had 20 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Lauren Silvester had six points and rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets.

Kaci Zopp had four points and five rebounds for EMS.

Elkins will host Buckhannon-Upshur at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
