Woman charged with shoplifting

A Clarksburg woman remains in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail after being arrested Friday night for attempting to steal more than $500 in video games from the Buckhannon Walmart.

Shelli Marie Lantz, 27, of 502 Upland Ave., is facing misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit shoplifting and shoplifting, after attempting to leave the store with 10 video games police said she tried to conceal in a large, empty purse.

According to the Buckhannon Police Department report, Lantz was stopped as she left the Walmart with $569.60 worth of video games. The report stated that another man, who was not charged, was waiting in a car by the store's door.

When a police cruiser pulled up to block the car in, the driver alleged tried to swerve around the police vehicle in an attempt to elude the police. The driver's vehicle was eventually boxed in.

Lantz is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond.
