As the snow continues to fly, so do the postponements and cancellations for high school sporting events.
Most area basketball teams have not been able to take the court since the middle of last week, and further delays could take place today with Monday's additional snow accumulation.
Basketball is not the lone sport plagued by the weather, as the Big 10 Conference championships in both wrestling and swimming were postponed over the weekend.
The swimming championships are scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. today at Fairmont State, weather permitting.
The wrestling event will now take place at Lewis County on Wednesday and Thursday with weigh-ins starting at 3:30 p.m. and matches taking place at 5 p.m.
Make-up dates will be announced in The Inter-Mountain once they've been set by school officials.
WHO'S RANKED?: This week's AP boys' basketball poll has Tucker County and Tygarts Valley ranked third and ninth, respectively, in Class A.
In the girls' poll, Tucker County is fifth, Pocahontas County sixth and Tygarts Valley is tied for 10th.
Tucker County was slated to entertain Pocahontas County Monday night in a Potomac Valley Conference showdown, but the game has been postponed until Thursday.
IN LIMBO: The Big 10 Conference basketball races remain in limbo due to the many postponements over the past week.
Preston currently tops the boys' standings with an 8-0 league record, followed by Fairmont Senior (11-1) and Robert C. Byrd (9-2).
Bridgeport has all but locked up the girls' regular-season title with a 14-0 record in league play. Preston is second at 7-1, while Robert C. Byrd is third at 11-3.
