Billy Ray Wilson, 78, of Midway Road, Belington, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Belington. He had been in declining health but his death was unexpected.
He was born Aug. 6, 1934, at Moatsville, a son of the late Ivan Ray and Ruth Janet Haddix Wilson.
On Oct. 16, 1956, he married the former Shirley L. Corley, who survives at their home on Midway Road, Belington.
Also surviving are one sister, Etheleen Shaw and husband, Howard, of Belington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was a 1953 graduate of Kasson High School He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Republic Steel Corp. with 40 years service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. Pastor Downing Gregory will officiate, and interment will follow in Belington Fraternal Cemetery. Friends called Wednesday at the funeral home and may call from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, today.
