MILL CREEK - Tygarts Valley's Shanda Howell had a special night Wednesday against South Harrison.

The senior had 30 points and became the seventh girls player in school history to reach 1,000 career points in a 77-22 win over the Lady Hawks.

But off the court, Howell's senior project of raising money for the Cancer Center at Davis Memorial Hospital netted $1,500. Cancer survivors and their caregivers also were recognized before the game, and Tygarts Valley players donned pink uniforms to recognize cancer awareness.
