Humane Society to offer a ‘Spay-ghetti’ dinner

February 16, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

The Randolph County Humane Society invites the public to attend its second "Spay-ghetti" dinner March 2, which will benefit the RCHS Shelter and its animals.

This event, hosted by the American Legion, will take place at the American Legion Hall on 4th Street in Elkins.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and food service and the evening's festivities will extend to 8 p.m.

"Last year we had a surprising number of orders for takeout, which slowed down the food line and caused some wait time. We have made efforts to fix that problem this year," said Ginny Zuboy, chair of the event and RCHS board member. "We will provide pickup service between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., and there is a phone number on the ticket so that you can call ahead to reduce wait time. We aim to please!"

Adult tickets are $8, and tickets for children under 10 are $4. Tickets can be purchased at local veterinary offices, at RCHS, from board members, by emailing Ginny Zuboy at gzuboy@gmail.com or by calling 304-636-2075.

The menu for the evening will include spaghetti with marinara or spaghetti with meatballs, a garden salad, Italian bread and a dessert buffet.

The desserts will include a variety of sweet treats provided by friends of RCHS. Soda, beer and wine will be available for sale.

The evening will be enhanced by candlelight and Italian music. It will include a variety of raffles, drawings and prizes, as well as a 50/50 drawing.

This event will focus on the animals of RCHS. Pictures of the shelter animals available for adoption will decorate the tables and will be presented as a slide show. Zuboy invites patrons to bring along pictures of their pets, especially RCHS alumni, to post for display and share their stories.

"Last year's dinner was a great success. We hope people will come to enjoy a delicious dinner, mingle and hang out for awhile. There will be lots of chances to win something and our dinner guests will be supporting a worthy cause," Zuboy said. "This 'spay-ghetti' fundraiser is offered to raise awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering, to raise the funds necessary to spay and neuter all RCHS pets before they leave the shelter, and to celebrate the joy that our pets bring to us in our everyday lives."

The Randolph County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All funds raised will be deposited directly in the RCHS Spay/Neuter fund.
