Davis & Elkins College Chancellor Michael Mihalyo accepts a $1,000 gift from Cindy Stemple, president of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Elkins, second from right. Also attending the presentation are Marijane Kiley, chair of the Woman’s Club Arts and Crafts Show, left, and Connie Pingley, co-chair of the Arts and Crafts Show. Stemple noted the donation was made in appreciation of the Woman’s Club’s ongoing relationship with the college, and the funds may be designated as needed. D&E’s Martin Field House is the site of the club’s annual Arts and Crafts Show hosted during the Mountain State Forest Festival in October. ‘We want to keep being involved with D&E,’ Stemple said, noting that the Field House is the perfect location for the event. The three-day show is the club’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds benefit scores of local projects including college scholarships for Randolph County students.
