TENNERTON - Philip Barbour utilized a third-quarter blitz Thursday night, posting a 57-40 road win over Buckhannon-Upshur in Big 10 Conference action.
The Bucs battled hard in the first half, as the teams ended entered intermission tied at 20-20.
The defensive tussle tilted one way in the third quarter as Philip Barbour materialized a 12-0 run that spearheaded a 23-7 advantage in the quarter.
B-U could not seriously close the gap in the final stanza.
"We didn't really do anything differently after halftime," Philip Barbour head coach Marcus Johnson said. "The guys were just more aggressive, especially on the defensive end.
"We were able to create some turnovers and capitalize on them at the other end."
"That stretch of the game was clearly the difference," B-U head coach Eli Gurash added.
Antonio Dalton led the Colts with a game high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Dalton Westfall led the Bucs with 16 points with Jon McDaniels contributing 11.
B-U (2-18) will travel to Grafton at 7:30 p.m. today.
Philip Barbour closes its regular season 10-10 and will face Liberty Tuesday in Class AA sectional play.
