A Buckhannon man remains in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail following an arrest in which he allegedly sold methamphetamine to a person working with the local law enforcement officers.

Matthew Corey Painter, 24, of 103 Valley Green, is being held in lieu of $35,000 bond. He is facing a charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to the complaint in Upshur County Magistrate Court, a controlled buy was set up for Feb. 19 in the parking lot of a Buckhannon convenience store.

Painter reportedly walked from his apartment and entered a pick-up truck in which the undercover person was sitting. The complaint stated that Parker sold the person 0.35 grams of methamphetamine for $50. After the exchange was made, officers took Painter into custody.

In another matter, a Buckhannon man is free after posting a $30,000 bond that stemmed from his being charged with breaking and entering or breaking without entering, along with receiving and transferring stolen property, according to the complaint in Upshur County Magistrate Court.

Rodney A. Harper, 24, of Route 4, Box 615A, was charged in connection with an investigation that began earlier, which has also resulted in the arrest of Dustin Joel Mills, 25, of French Creek.

According to information provided by the Upshur County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at Mills' residence on Hinkleville Road. Mills reportedly allowed the deputies to search the residence, and they discovered a generator which had been reported stolen to the sheriff's department a few days earlier.

Sheriff David Coffman said more than $35,000 in stolen equipment was recovered, which is believed to have been taken during break-ins in the Alton, French Creek, Childers Run, Brooks Hill and Alexander areas of the county.
