Moorefield wins sectional title; Senators split pair

PETERSBURG - Adam Snyder finished with a team-high 20 points to lead Moorefield past East Hardy 61-54 Saturday in the Class A Region II, Section 2 title game at Petersburg High?School.

The Yellow Jackets will host Notre Dame in the one regional final at 7 p.m. Thursday with a trip to the state tournament on line.

East Hardy will visit Tucker County on the same day in the other final.

"It's very exciting to have a chance to play in the regional final," Moorefield coach Pat MacGregor said. "This is the first sectional title we have won since I have been here,"

Jared Kite followed with 19 points and Lance Taylor added 11 ponts for the Yellow Jackets (10-10).

Tyler?Mongold fired in a game-high 23 points, while Korey Foltz added 12 ponts to lead East Hardy.

Wyatt Basye added 10 points in a losing effort for East Hardy.

College Baseball

D&E Spilts Pair

FREDERICK, Md. -?The Davis & Elkins College baseball split a pair of games on?Sunday afternoon.

The Senators (3-5) won their first contest over Bluefield State, 18-1.

Taylor Hyssong pitched a complete-game four hitter, while striking out seven.

Treavor Dubiel had two hit, four RBIs and a home run, while Matt Barr added two hits and three RBIs for D&E.

Houston Darling added a two-run double for the Senators.

D&E lost the second game 12-2 to Indiana, Pa., in seven innings.

Tripp Staley took the loss in three innings of work.

Lance VanNoy had four hits including a home run, while Paris Ragan added three hits for D&E.

The Senators defeated West Virginia Tech on Saturday, 12-1.

Dubiel had three hits to lead the Senators.

D&E?will host IUP?at 1 p.m. on Thursday for a non-conference tilt.
