The Stockert Youth Center in Buckhannon will host the first "Our Children, Our Future: A Community Meal and Conversation" at 5:30 p.m. March 15.
The forum will have a food demonstration and instruction in which participants can learn to make simple, yet nutritious dishes. Samples of the various preparations will be offered. Recipe cards will be available at each station, along with takeaways needed to prepare the dish. Plans are also being made to have a children's activity area.
A presentation by Stephen Smith, the executive director of West Virginia Healthy Kids and Families Coalition, is being planned, as is one by Mountain Cap of West Virginia.
Organizers also hope to have small groups discuss what can be done locally to improve the nutritional needs of children and families and what local civic groups can do to support the efforts.
Volunteers are being sought to help at the event. Those interested should contact CJ Rylands at email@example.com.
