William Earl Kelley Sr., 81, of Morgantown and French Creek, went on to glory on March 8, 2013, as the grandfather clock chimed a-quarter-past-five, surrounded by loved ones at home.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Frenchton, a son of the late John and Eva Kelley.
He is survived by his love of 58 years, Helen Irene Kelley; his four children, William "Bill" Kelley and wife, Terry, Cindy Kelley Graves and husband, Gary, Roberta Riffle and Diana Lindsay; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Boyd, Bob, Homer and Ralph Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a veteran of the United States Army and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal during his service in the Korean War. He served 32 years as a West Virginia State Policeman and retired as a captain on Dec. 31, 1986. He was an active member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church. He enjoyed summers on the family farm and spending time with loved ones.
The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the funeral chapel with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery, where the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion, and the DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors.
