Anona Vance, 80, a former resident of East Dailey for 38 years and more recently a resident of Junior, where she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, William and Angela Vance, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at the home of her son.
She was born May 31, 1932, at Fairmont, a daughter of the late Orva and Katherine Huffman.
On Nov. 12, 1949, at Millersville, she was married to Broze Foye Vance, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, David Wayne Vance of Monroe, N.C., William Jay Vance of Junior and Ronald Allan Vance of Beverly; one daughter, Tonya Faye Smith of Winchester, Va.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Charles D. Huffman, Deloyd Huffman and Hershel Huffman.
Mrs. Vance attended the schools of Marion County and, along with her husband, owned the Sears Store in Elkins for more than 30 years. She was a Methodist by faith, a member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Auxiliary and served as treasurer of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for 35 years.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday, March 14, Mrs. Vance will be moved to American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery, where a graveside service will be conducted at noon. Pastor Dan Meadows will officiate, and interment will follow.
