Buckhannon-Upshur falls; MHS wins

TENNERTON?- Miki Glenn and Megan Ware had three hits each to lead Bridgeport past Buckhannon-Upshur 11-5 Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Ware also had five RBIs and scored two runs, while Glenn added two RBIs and scored a run for the Lady?Indians.

Lexie Sczerba, Tori Rovello, Sarah Barr and Abby Hartley all had two hits for Bridgeport.

Barr also scored runs, while Rovello and Hartley had two runs scored for the Lady Indians.

Danielle Dennison pitched a complete-game effort to lead Bridgeport on the mound. She gave up five runs on 12 hits, walked two and struck out three.

Megan Williams had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Lady Bucs at the plate.

Claire Linger and Lindsey Wagoner had two hits each, while Wagoner had an RBIs for the Lady Bucs.

Brooklyn Waddell and Casey Frederick had one hit each and scored a run for B-U.

Williams took the loss for the hosts in seven innings of work. She gave up 11 runs on 16 hits, walked zero and struck out one.

"We played like it was our first day on the field, which it was" B-U coach Tom Hasbrouck said.

"It was only the third time we have been outside and the other two times were on the stadium turf. We hit the ball alright but left too many runners on base."

B-U (0-1, 0-1) will travel to Hampshire at 4 p.m. Friday for a non-conference double-header.

Moorefield 8 Martinsburg 5

MOOREFIELD - Adam Snyder had three hits and drove in two runs to lead Moorefield past Martinsburg 8-5 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Lance Taylor and Mikey Pultz added a solo home run each for the Yellow Jackets (1-0).

Tyler Smith had one hit and two RBIs for Moorefield.

Snyder notched the win for Moorefield in two innings of relief.

He gave up no runs on no hits and struck out three.

Chris Longdo took the loss for the Bulldogs in five innings of work.

Tyler Mason and Jacob Vanorsdale had the lone hits for Martinsburg.

Moorefield will play in the Strasburg, Va., tournament on Friday and Saturday.
