Two Upshur County teens were killed early Saturday morning in a fatal wreck that occurred along the Harrison-Marion county line, police said.

Dalton Tenney, 19, of French Creek, and Kaitlyn J. Hamilton, 17, also of Upshur County, died from injuries suffered during the one-vehicle wreck, which happened at about 3:48 a.m., Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano said Monday.

Marano said Tenney, the driver, and Hamilton were traveling north on Interstate 79 in a 2002 Mitsubishi four-door Galant near mile marker 128, when Tenney lost control of the vehicle, which struck a guardrail and overturned several times.

Both teens were ejected from the vehicle.

Tenney died soon after the wreck, and Hamilton died Saturday evening, around 6 or 7 p.m., Marano said.

"We believe that speed may have been a factor," Marano said.

Deputy Z.D. Hutson, the investigating officer, was assisted by Lt. P.B. McCarty. The Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport Police Department and Harrison County EMS also responded to the scene.
