Bulldogs drop pair to MHS

MILL?CREEK - Moorefield swept Tygarts Valley Thursday in Potomac Valley Conference play at Bulldog Field.

The Yellow Jackets took the opener 15-2 and completed the sweep with a 21-2 decision in the nightcap.

Both games ended early due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Xavier Brown knocked in three runs for Moorefield in the lidlifter. He also earned the win on the mound, allowing just one hit, striking out 10 and walking four in six innings.

Cody Grimmett had the lone hit for the Bulldogs.

Keighan Chewning took the loss, allowing nine runs on nine hits in three innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Moorefield pounded out 16 hits to win the second game. Brown went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Matt Combs had a homer and drove in four runs, Mikey Pultz knocked in three runs, Lance Taylor homered and drove in three runs and Wil Schoonover had three RBIs.

Chewning knocked in a run for Tygarts Valley.

Zach Hose went four innings to earn the win. He allowed two hits and struck out four.

Ryan Hoffman took the loss for the Bulldogs, surrendering 12 runs on eight hits in two innings.

Tygarts Valley will host Pendleton County today.

Moorefield (5-2) will visit Elkins at 7 p.m. today.

Pendleton 9, Bath County 1

CEDAR?CREEK, Va. - Pendleton claimed a 9-1 win over Bath County (Va.) Thursday in five innings.

The game ended after the fifth due to the weather.

Logan Raines, Kyle Kretzsechman and Luke Yokum each had two hit for the Wildcats. Raines' tally included a homer, triple and two RBIs.

Luke Yokum earned the win in three innings of work. He struck out four and allowed jut two hits.

Jimmy Ford had two hits for the Chargers.

Pendleton County will visit Tygarts Valley today for Potomac Valley Conference contest.

East Fairmont 2, Elkins 0

Elkins dropped to 0-5 on the season with a 2-0 loss to East Fairmont Thursday night in Big 10 Conference action.

The Tigers will host Moorefield at 7 p.m. today for a non-conference tilt.
