Bulldogs rally past Warriors

MILL CREEK - The Tygarts Valley High School baseball team split a pair of games Friday night.

The Bulldogs (1-4) won the first game 5-4 over Pocahontas County and lost to Pendleton County in the nightcap, 6-1.

Brandon Pritt pitched a complete-game effort in Game 1 on the mound. He gave up four runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out six.

P.J. Lanham and Keighan Chewning had one hit and RBI each to lead the Bulldogs, who rallied from a 4-2 deficit.

Ryan Hoffman, Brandon Pritt and Cody Grimmett all added hits for the winners, while Adam Cassell scored a pair of runs.

Brandon Hammons took the loss for the Warriors (0-1) in five innings of work. He gave up three runs on five hits, walked five and struck out nine.

Spencer McCoy and Wes Felton both pitched in relief for the Warriors.

Cary Robertson had three hits, while Wes Felton added two hits and scored a run for Pocahontas County.

Pocahontas County will travel to East Hardy at noon today for a PVC doubleheader.

Jesse Lambert had one hit, RBI and scored two runs in the second game to lead Pendleton County.

Logan Raines and Kyle Kretzsechman had one hit and scored a run for the Wildcats.

Cody Lambert notched the win for Pendleton County in four innings of work. He gave up one run on five hits and struck out three.

Owen Arbogast took the loss for the Bulldogs in seven innings of work. He gave up no earned runs on six hits, walked two and struck out eight.

Arbogast had two hits and scored a run, while Ryan Hoffman had one hit and RBI for Tygarts Valley.

Casey Martel and Cassell had one hit each for the Bulldogs.

"I was really happy with our pitching in both games," Tygarts Valley coach James Markley said. "But we have to work harder on our fielding, and hit the ball with runners in scoring position."

Pendleton County will visit Pocahontas County on Tuesday, while Tygarts Valley will host Union at noon today.
