Moorefield rolls by Tigers; Colts shut out Tucker

Jared Kite pitched four scoreless innings to lead Moorefield past Elkins 16-2 in five innings Friday in non-conference action.

Moorefield’s Matt Combs slide safely into third as Elkins’ Kollin Hopwood makes the tag in a non-conference contest Friday at Elkins High School. The Yellow Jackets claimed a 16-2 victory in five innings.

He gave up no runs on three hits, walked three and struck out one.

He helped his cause at the plate with two hits, two RBIs and scored a run for the Yellow Jackets (7-3).

Tyler Smith, Adam Snyder and Matthew Combs each had two hits and scored two runs apiece for Moorefield.

Tyler Scott took the loss for the Tigers in 1 1/3 innings of work. He gave up six runs on five hits, walked three and struck out one.

Marky Parrack had a double and scored a run, while Joseph Severino had single and a run scored for the Tigers (0-6).

Colby Gainer also had a safety for Elkins.

Moorefield will host Frankfort at 11 a.m. today for a non-conference tilt.

Elkins will entertain Webster County at 7 p.m. Monday for a non-conference tilt.

Philip Barbour 10

Tucker County 0

PARSONS - Quentin Mouser allowed just one hit in five innings as Philip Barbour blanked Tucker County 10-0 on Friday.

The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Mouser struck out seven and walked four.

Zach Howdershelt and Tyler Schiefelbein each had two hits to lead the Colts (1-3), while Saige Cline drove in two runs.

Travis Harper took the loss, allowing eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. He fanned one and walked two.

Philip Barbour will visit Lewis County at 7 p.m. Monday for a Big 10 Conference contest.
