NEOTERIC, a unique trio from the University of Southern Illinois, Carbondale campus, will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 15 in Loar Auditorium at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
This trio is the only one of its kind, combining the bassoon, cello and French horn. Its members perform a wide range of musical styles, from Renaissance to classical, Cole Porter to contemporary.
Trio members are Eric Lenz on cello, Melissa Mackey on bassoon and Jennifer Presar on horn. Presar is the daughter of Sandra Presar and the late Charles I. Presar, both WVWC professor emeriti and founding members of Upshur Arts Alliance Inc. The group's visit is sponsored by UAA and Wesleyan's Department of Music.
Along with their public performance, they will host a master class for Wesleyan students April 14 and a Buckhannon-Upshur High School band class April 15.
The April 15 performance is free to the public. A reception will follow in the Loar Memorial Room.
