Kids age 14 and under have the opportunity to show off their basketball shooting skills while helping others as part of an upcoming fundraiser.

The Layup for Life event, slated for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Clayton Homes, will help benefit the Randolph County Relay For Life.

"Children can get sponsors that pledge a certain amount for each foul shot or can accept flat donations," said Judy Ritchie, chairwoman for the Randolph County Relay For Life. "The top fundraising child in each group will receive a prize. Those getting the most foul shots in each age category and for raising money will also receive a gift or gift card."

Ritchie said registrations will be accepted the day of the event. Age categories are age 10 and under, using the shorter basket, and age 11 to 14 using the regular height basket. Free refreshments will be available.

"We are so excited to give children an opportunity to help with the Randolph County Relay For Life," Ritchie said. "Kids may pick a Relay For Life team to get credit for their money if they want."
