Irish pull past Colts; Pendleton falls

PHILIPPI?- Notre Dame plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie an go on for an 8-4 win over Philip Barbour on Wednesday.

The Irish had taken a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning on a bloop single by Chris Petrucci that plated courtesy runner Sam Martino.

The Colts answered in the home half of the frame when Bryant Martin reached on a hit batsman, advanced to second on a wild pitch and trotted home a two-out single by Chance Price.

Freshman Josh Baker earned the win for the Irish.

Doug Smith took the loss in relief of starter Quentin Mouser, who went the first six innings.

Philip Barbour (1-6) will host East Fairmont at 7 p.m. today for a Big 10 Conference contest.

Moorefield 12, Pendleton 4

FRANKLIN - Moorefield erupted for six runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from Pendleton County 12-4 Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference play.

Lance Taylor earned the win for the Yellow Jackets, who led 6-4 entering the seventh inning.

Taylor allowed 11 hits and struck out five.

Cody Lambert took the loss, surrendering four runs on seven hits in three innings.

Adam Snyder and Austin Williams each had three hits for Moorefield.

Taylor added a pair of hits and three RBIs.

Jesse Lambert had a two-run single and Andrew Thompson two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats.

Pendleton County (6-5, 5-1 PVC) will host Tucker County on Friday for a league contest.

Moorefield will entertain East Hardy at 7 p.m. Friday for a key PVC contest.
