Ryan Summerfield's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Elkins to a 5-4 victory over Big 10 Conference foe North Marion Thursday night at the Elkins High School field.

Clayton Collett started the ninth by reaching on a bunt single and stealing second base.

After advancing to third on Silas Gibson's groundout, Summerfield came through with the game-winning hit.

The Tigers led 3-1 before the Huskies rallied to take a 4-3 cushion in the top of the seventh inning.

Elkins tied the game in the home-half of the frame when Jacob Wyatt's double plated Tyler Shreve.

Gibson had two RBIs in the third on a fielder's choice and an RBI single in the fifth.

Issac Riggleman earned the win in three innings of relief.

He allowed one run on two hits, struck out three and didn't issue a walk.

Tyler Scott started on the mound for the hosts. He went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking two batters.

Skyler Brooks was tagged with the loss for North Marion. He went the distance, striking out six and walking one.

"This was a good win for us," Elkins coach Adam Roth said. "We were able to regroup after losing the lead in the seventh and coming back with a run in the ninth to get the victory.

"We're starting to play together as a team right now."

The Tigers will play two games on Saturday, hosting Petersburg at noon and playing Preston later in the day.

Preston and Petersburg also will face one another.
