Upshur teen in jail after knife incident

April 12, 2013
By John Wickline - Upshur Bureau Chief (jwickline@theintermountain.com) , The Inter-Mountain

A Rock Cave man remains in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $225,000 bond after being charged earlier this week with a series of misdemeanor charges.

Joshua Keith Anderson, 18, of 37 Birdy Drive, is facing two counts of domestic assault, two counts of brandishing and a single count of domestic battery stemming from an incident April 8 at a Shawnee Drive residence in Buckhannon.

According to the complaint in Upshur County Magistrate Court, the West Virginia State Police were dispatched to the Buckhannon residence after receiving a call about a domestic battery incident. A woman told state troopers that she and her 15-year-old son were sitting on a sofa when Anderson came out of a bedroom and told the 15-year-old that he was going to "slit his throat," according to the complaint. Anderson then allegedly went into the kitchen and returned with a large kitchen knife and allegedly began waving it in the boy's face.

The complaint stated that when the woman tried to get in between the two, she was pushed to the ground. The complaint stated that Anderson then allegedly went after the boy again and then later allegedly began waving the knife at the woman, cutting her left hand.

Further court proceedings have not been scheduled in the matter.
