Thurman Daniels

Mr. Thurman A. "June" Daniels, 88, a resident of Elkins, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit in Elkins.

He was born May 21, 1924, at Pierce, a son of the late Thurman and Violet Kisner Daniels.

He was married to Lois King Daniels, who survives at Beverly.

Also surviving are one son, Stephen A. Daniels of Gaithersburg, Md.; one stepson, Harvey Toomey Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; three daughters, Linda Kay Edwards and husband, Rick, of Lynchburg, Va., Shirley Jean Daniels of Gaithersburg, Md., and Terri Susanne Daniels of Annapolis, Md. One brother, the Rev. Charles Daniels of Flemington; two sisters, Betty Merritt and husband, Perry, of Ripley, and Carol Sines of Elkins; three grandchildren, Scott, Tynlee and Katie; stepgrandchildren, Ryan, Shawn and Connor; great-grandchildren, Jessika, Christian, Kaitlin, Hunter, Jake, Camille and James; stepgreat-grandchildren, Brie, Eathan, Riley and Gavin, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive.

Also preceding him in death were brothers, Aubrey, Jack, Alvin, Kenny, Paul and twin infant brothers; sisters, Norma, Eula and Beryl; and a grandson, Kirk.

June attended the schools of Randolph County, was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and served with the 5th Service Command of the United States Army. He was the owner of Daniels Body Shop for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, caring for his flowers, trees and lawn, refinishing furniture, canning, making apple cider and wine, camping and travelling. June loved his 1931 Model A Ford, which he restored and proudly displayed. He attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church near Beverly.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery near Beverly.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corp., 169 Diamond St., Elkins, WV 26241, in memory of Mr. Daniels. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Thurman A. "June" Daniels. Condolences may be expressed to the family at
